Her mate was killed last year, she sat on the one egg she was nesting and we all looked after her, and fed her until it hatched. She is back this year, with a new mate and 4 eggs in the nest, and they have built a barrier so she is safer (it was a dog that got her partner, very sad and awful) Hopefully some pics of fluffy cygnets to follow soon!
Swans are so regal – lovely capture of one nesting.

So pretty!
Thank you. On Ham Pond, round the corner from us. She is nesting 4 eggs.
Lovely capture. Nice sign of nature at work.
Thank you. She is sitting on four eggs, hopefully pics of some fluffy cygnets will be coming soon!
I don’t think I’d want to be that close to a nesting swan! the result was worth it though, great photo π
Last year, her previous partner was killed by a dog, so they are really looking after her this year and there actually was a barrier between her and me, and I was being very wary of her new mate, who was nearby. Hopefully she will hatch the 4 eggs she is sitting on! π
Amazing you got that close. It’s really nice to see them nesting.
She has built a nest on the edge of the pond, there is a barrier around her, built by the RSPB, you can’t see it in the photo. Last year, her previous partner was killed by a dog, so they are really looking after her this year! π
