When you want to do something…

When you want to do something, something you have felt you could do, if you put your mind and effort into it, something that other people have told you you should do, but you have brushed off their suggestions, because you are scared, and your confidence in your own talent and abilities is low. When you know that it would take a lot of hard work, research, reaching out to people and organisations and facing a lot of rejections or little support. When you know that certain friends and family members would think you are utterly mad to try and do it, because you already have a lot on your plate, and sometimes can’t juggle it all or because they think what you already do is silly and of little consequence and that you will get bored of it, and give up.

When you confess to your husband, over a rather strong G&T, whilst sitting in a lovely French bar, watching the sun set, that you have always wanted to do it, but never felt the time was right or that you were talented enough, or that people would want to know….

Dare I say it? Should I do it? It’s a mammoth, and pretty scary prospect. It may never suceeed. But I want to try…

I want to write a book.

There, I said it, now, I just have to gather the courage to try and do it!

  1. Do it!! The first step is to admit that you want to which is what you have achieved already πŸ™‚ I look forward to reading all about it.

  2. Brilliant! Just do it, I bet the hardest part was just admitting it out in the open. I, too, have had a children’s book idea in my head for years and just haven’t done anything about it. Good luck with the hardest part, starting it. I bet once you write the first few hundred words, it will just flow πŸ™‚ #PoCoLo
