Slinky Malinki or Hairy Maclary?

I have always loved Lynley Dodd’s books, and came across her series Slinky Malinki and Hairy Maclary when I was doing my teaching practice in primary schools. (I did a year of teacher training before my mother died, then I took time off and never went back, that’s another story for another day…) I loved them, and still do today. She’s an amazingly talented writer and now my children, love them too.

“Slinky Malinki was blacker than black, a stalking, lurking, adventurous cat…” I think that has to be one of my favourite opening lines of any children’s book and through the books Slinky Malinki gets up to all sorts of tricks and adventures!

The Hairy Maclary books are equally fun, telling the poetic tale of him and his canine friends.

The books are written beautifully, with clever rhymes and each one is just as fun as the last. My children know them all, off by heart. They encourage a love of reading, and are classic books to have in your children’s bookcase.

If you’ve never read a Slinky Malinki book or laughed at Hairy Maclary’s antics and would like to try them, or love one or both, then you’ll be pleased to know we have a copy of the first book in each series to giveaway.
