I think it is so helpful for them to be ready for adult life, and to be able to do the basics.

(The youngest is only two!) however as they get older, I will definitely be expecting them to help out more. My son is already pretty good at cooking a couple of meal, with supervision. I am teaching him about different things found about in the house and saying out the names out loud with him, this sure is helping him identify the objects and hoping he grows gradually!

They tidy their rooms, bring their washing down and do the dishes most evenings. Then if they want to earn extra time on electronics they do extra jobs like fold washing, sweep up, put the washing machine on. Even my 10 year old knows how to do a load of washing. hehehe
