No, my rant is not about canned, processed meat. Today, my rants are directed at spam on blogs, mostly my blog, although spam everywhere is annoying.
For some reason, in the past two weeks, my blog has been hit by hundreds (literally, I have deleted 600 spam comments in the past 15 days) of spam comments. Ranging from companies selling horrible fake diet plans or hormones, to Viagra, or knock off designer bags and shoes. I have had spam in Chinese, French, and other languages. I even had one spam comment talking about the war in Israel and would I like to contribute to their cause? I have no idea why all of a sudden my little family blog has suddenly become spam centre, or where they have all appeared from, and some of them are amusing, but it’s mostly annoying that they think I should give them free advertising space on my blog for their fake or dodgy websites.
Fortunately, I have an excellent host service and spam protection, so very little of the spam actually gets through although some of them are clever and look like genuine blog comments before you read them, and do get through. I am notified at each comment made on my blog, and get a weekly spam update too, so I can keep an eye on what’s happening.
I realise it’s normal, it’s part of being on the internet and I am hardly alone, and I am sure much bigger blogs than mine get tonnes of spam daily but it’s irritated me that I have had to delete 3 spam comments off my recent posts, that did get through the spam protection, offering Chinese “sexy ladies” services and “performance enhancing drugs” (you know the kind I mean, hardly appropriate for this blog) and I felt like I needed to get it off my chest.
I wish there was a way to get revenge on these spammers? Anyone have any good ideas?

So much spam and it doesnt even make sense
I had a huge one yesterday ranting on about teh NHS and then there were too links to fake Jimmy Choo shoes!
