So, it’s a major annoyance of mine, when my social media is bombed or spammed by people selling things via an MLM or multi level marketing scheme. It’s incredibly annoying when I post something on say, my Instagram feed, perhaps maybe about my knee recovery progress or maybe a gentle whine about having had a bad night’s sleep and I get spam messages from people selling things like diet pills, herbal remedies, aromatherapy oils, or those wrap things (which may or may not work, I don’t know and I don’t plan on ever trying) It’s irritating. I exercise my block finger and remove their spam.
My instagram profile clearly states I’m not interested in MLM spam.
What I want to know, and I’d like to ask those out there who are part of MLM schemes who follow me, and people like me, is if we state we aren’t interested in your stuff, why are you following us? Surely you must know that as soon as we see your feed is basically full of the product you sell, and that all you want to do is hook more customers, that we will block you? Is it some sort of marketing thing “we’ll get those people who say they don’t want to know about us?”.
I’m all for making a business work, but really, if someone clearly says “I’m not interested?” Why follow? You aren’t interested in the random photos of my cats or kids, you’re basically on a sneaky sales tactic of occasionally commenting on my stuff, in the hopes I’ll decide I want to follow you then buy what you sell?
It’s an underhand way of trying to catch customers and I hate to point out, not a way you are going to win my custom.
So, next time, save yourself the bother and don’t follow me. I don’t even blink, I report your account as spam and I block you. By all means, run your business, but just not by spamming my social media…
That was my last Friday’s Rant from the Soap box in My Living Room for 2015. Next Friday is Christmas Day, I’ll be hopefully enjoying a happy and peaceful day with my family. I hope you have the same.

Oh I hate it. My problem is I really like some of the MLM products. Specifically the forever living ones that EVERYWHERE in Dubai. I use the product. I’ll buy off you. I DO NOT want to join your scheme….
Eurgh they’re so annoying aren’t they! I get the messages saying they have great savings or great opportunities and they’re not even in my country. At least you are blocking your way through them! #effitfriday
I totally agree. If I like the product, I will buy it without the need to spam me, and if I don’t no amount of spam comments will change that. #effitfriday

I too hate IG spam. I didn’t know it had a name but it’s so annoying. The wraps in particular are plaguing me. I don’t follow them but they follow me & send messages. It’s crazy how IG has become a commercial for some accounts.
