What we’re reading. Eclectic & interesting…

Our reading choices this week are slightly ecclectic and interesting.

Emily is reading the first in the series of these books. She is LOVING it. They were recommended by a friend, and I got her a copy. She loves it so much she has been sneaking it into her school bag, to read. I even caught her in the bathroom with her book. I love it when a book or an author makes my kids want to read more.

Matthew is enjoying being read to about Humphrey the oh so intelligent hamster and his adventures. It’s what we call a chapter book, with very few pictures, but he loves it and we are reading a chapter a night, and he asks for more. It’s a funny and endearing story. We are enjoying reading it with him.

This story about the loss of a brother, after a devastating accident that injured him so badly he was never the same and suffered for years before dying, is making me cry, with almost every chapter. Not an easy read, but I highly recommend it.

And I am thoroughly enjoying this gluten free baking book, and looking at some of the  lovely recipes, which I am going to try out, and I may even have a copy to give away, in the next week or so, so watch this space.

So that’s what we are reading this week. How about you?

  1. Oooo that first book sounds right up my eldest street! Is it strange that I kind of like it when books make cry, feels like you really connect the story! Thanks for sharing with #ReadWithMe
