Christmas fun tag…

So the lovely Emma over at EmmaandFamily tagged me in a post asking me some questions about Christmas to share. I thought it might be fun.

What’s your favorite Christmas movie?Home Alone 1 & 2. I don’t know why, maybe because it’s so silly and funny. My kids love them too, so we pull the dvd’s out every Christmas to watch with popcorn and sweets.

Have you ever had a white Christmas? – yes, I have lived in countries where we had proper snow or been visiting family when it snowed. Finland, Scotland, Jordan, Minnesota, to name a few.

Where do you usually spend your holiday? – this year we will be at home, in London, the year before last we went to Thailand to be with my dad and his partner, which was amazing. I wish we could go again.

What is your favorite Christmas song? – “Let it snow”, my current version is Michael Buble singing it, my kids know all the words too, so we often break out into song…

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?Yes, we all open one small present each before we go to bed.

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? –Er, no, but my kids can, so that must count for something?

Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year? – Seeing family, singing carols at church, making gingerbread, calling family abroad, and taking lots of photos and making new memories.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake? – it’s fake. We used to have a real tree, but when my dad moved abroad he left us his fake one, and the children miss him a lot so they like to use his tree. I prefer a real tree but am going with it, and my dad’s tree does look lovely.

What is your all time favorite holiday treat/food/sweet? – I like cold leftovers, mainly the stuffing and roast potatoes, but I am also rather partial to Brussels sprouts too… 😉

Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?Giving, it’s one of my favourite things. I am a bit of a control freak so don’t like surprises, the husband humors me, mostly on this.

What is the best Christmas present you ever received? My daughter, born safely, just a few day after Christmas, after a rather rocky and difficult pregnancy. She will be ten this year.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season? – Lapland, please!!

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably? – I spent part of my childhood in Thailand, in Bangkok where they wrap presents so beautifully, and I learned how to wrap and make fancy bows, so it’s a source of pride for me to wrap things well. In fact, my father in law was so impressed at my wrapping that he now also likes to make an effort and wrap things beautifully too. It’s a bit of a competitive thing we have going now!

Most memorable Christmas moment? – both my children’s first Christmases, their faces and delight and the fun they had.

What made you realize the truth about Santa? When I was about 8, and was looking for something under my parent’s bed and found a package of things that I realized were what I had asked for, for Christmas. I never told them though…

So those are my answers? Want to join in and have some fun and share? I am tagging Tracey from Mummyshire to and Lisa to share theirs too!

Happy Christmas!
