Friday Rant – The school water fountain?

Welcome to my Friday Rant from the Soap Box in my Living Room. A small space in the week where I can have a chunter about things that have made me twitch with annoyance or made me question if the world has gone mad or not….
I also linked up with MummyBarrow for her Ranty Friday. You can find her blog and link up if you’d like to join in. A good rant can be therapeutic. Click on the link at the end to join in!

friday rant

So, this week my rant is brief, it’s been a crazy week, but I want to share my loathing of one item, in the school playground, in many school playgrounds, I am sure….

Ranty Friday 20thedit

The school water fountain! I shudder, every time we walk past it, and my children insist on having a drink from it. I am not generally a germaphobe, in fact, given that we don’t use antibacterial soaps, wipes or sprays, and I am pretty relaxed about my kids getting dirty, it would seem odd that I feel a bit sick when I think about the germs and bacteria lurking around this thing that probably a large percentage of the school population has had their mouth and hands on!

The children are encouraged to take water bottles into school, and have a drink mid morning, and at lunch time, and have access to their water bottles in the classroom. WHY do we need these horrible contraptions in the playground?

Am I alone? Am I being overly neurotic? With cold, flu and tummy bug season looming, I just feel we could do with one less thing to spread the nasty lurgies?

What say you blogland? Love the school water fountain, or hate it?

That’s my Friday Rant. Have a good weekend!

  1. Ooh sorry i’m going to have to say i like them. That picture made me get butterflies thinking of primary school – running around in the sun then queuing and gasping at the water fountain. Happy days 🙂
