The Kaleidoscope Plus Group helpline – Talk2Us

Talk2Us is available now

National mental health and wellbeing charity, The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, has today launched its nationwide mental health helpline and messenger service to keep up with an increase in demand following the Coronavirus outbreak.

Talk2Us

The charity’s helpline and messenger service, Talk2Us, is free to use for anyone in the UK and will be accessible from Monday to Friday between 9am & 5pm and from 5pm to 8pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Monica Shafaq, CEO of The Kaleidoscope Plus Group said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has led to increased levels of stress and anxiety in individuals for a number of reasons. Some people have not felt emotions of this nature before and do not necessarily know what to do, or have any coping mechanisms in place. While those already living with mental health problems are facing extra challenges accessing the support that they so desperately need.”

“We have experienced exceptional demand for our services during this unprecedented time. Employees are dealing with being furloughed or trying to live off a smaller income. Business owners are struggling with the tough decisions they have to make, that they’ve never had to do before. Our wonderful frontline NHS, social care and key workers have to face this crisis head on, every single day, and fear for their own health, and many charities and organisations are worried about how they’re going to continue helping those in need. The current situation is really taking its toll on everyone’s mental health and wellbeing, which is why, we, at The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, want to do everything we can to help, albeit remotely!”

“We have launched our messenger and call helplines as we know that many people, particularly those who have never struggled with their mental health and wellbeing before, may find it difficult to initially reach out and ask for help. We want to make it as easy as possible for anyone who needs mental health and wellbeing support to get it.”

Approximately, 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year and 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem such as stress, anxiety or depression, in any given week.

The Kaleidoscope Plus Group hope that their new Talk2Us helpline and messenger service will make accessing help as easy as possible, especially during this difficult time. The charity also operates a 24/7 crisis text line for people in crisis or in need of urgent help. Simply text TEAMKPG to 85258 from anywhere in the UK to speak to a trained crisis volunteer.
