Cows Milk Free Pizza – it can be done

pizza

Pizza is a firm family favorite meal in our house. This is a very quick, cheat recipe. My kids LOVE pizza, but both my big boy and smaller boy are allergic to cows milk, so we have to look for other options. Goats milk products work for them, safely, so that’s what we use. Goats cheese, the hard version, is actually pretty good when melted, and tastes good.

You can also use vegan cheese for this, which is something I have done, and it works well. Violife does a “mozzarella” which works really well, and my kids and the husband don’t protest when I make it this way. Well worth a try if you can’t do goats cheese.

You need:

One pizza base (I am working on making my own and would love to try gluten-free as well, so LSH can eat it too,  but this was a pre-bought base, you can make your own, it’s great fun for the kids) This is the one I buy. *this is not a  paid link*

A drizzle of olive oil

One small jar of tomato passata or tomato-based pasta sauce, or your own homemade sauce (I made my own, recently and froze it in batches, and it has carrots added to the sauce, for extra veggies)

One cup full of grated cheese of your choice.

Whatever you like to add to your pizza in terms of toppings… My children LOVE olives, and we used olives here, but I also use sweetcorn, ham, pineapple, pepperoni, mushrooms, spinach… whatever you like, and you can let them decorate their own pizza’s too.

Preheat the oven to 180

Spread the sauce evenly all over the pizza base, then add some cheese, then go wild with your toppings, then add more cheese and drizzle the olive oil over the top.

Bake for 10 minutes (or however long the pizza base needs) and your toppings are cooked and the cheese is melty

Serve and enjoy. If I am lucky there are leftovers we can eat cold for lunch the next day, but that doesn’t happen often.

How do you like your pizza? This recipe is my personal favourite and breaking from the traditional recipe…
